The Caro-Mi Dining Room has been in existence since 1945, when the original owners, the Mehafeys, moved from their native Miami, FL, and built the business in the area that is now the Greenville Watershed. The restaurant was re-built at its current location in 1957. The Stafford family purchased the Caro-Mi in 1990 and continues to offer southern favorites in a relaxing, rustic atmosphere.
Q: Do you serve lunch?
A: No, we only serve dinner on Wednesday- Saturday. We open at 5 pm Wed- Fri and we open at 4:00 pm on Saturday. We close the kitchen around 8 pm.
Q: Are you closed in the winter?
A: No, we are open year-round, with the exception of the week of Thanksgiving and for two weeks around Christmas and New Year.
Q: Where does the name come from?
A: The original owners, who were from Miami, FL created the name as a combination of Carolina and Miami: Caro-Mi.
Q: Is the menu all-you-can eat?
A: We refill the side items that come with every entree. These include: cooked apples, green beans, grits with red-eye gravy (with the country ham orders), Caro-Mi slaw, macaroni salad and biscuits. After the initial entree is ordered, additional entrees can be ordered for a reduced price.
Q: Are you open for the July 4th holiday?
A: If July 4th falls on one of our regular business days (Wed. - Sat.) we will be open.
